雅思词汇：up in the air 不仅只有“在空中”的意思，它还有其他寓意

        在英语中，作为空气的 air 是不可数名词，它指的是环绕地球的混合气体，因为空气看不见，没人能数得了，但是有的时候 air 还可以意为“天空”，常用作 the air，此时指的是地上或周围的空间，这是它与另一个意为“天空”的 sky 的主要区别。

　　当研究 air 与 sky 作为天空的区别时，你会发现 air 所表示的天空的范围大部分都是比较窄的，也就是肉眼看得清楚或手容易触及的地方，这也就是很多习语都跟 air 有关的原因，至少 in the air 的东西比 in the sky 的东西更触手可及，如 clear the air，with your nose in the air 等。
