雅思词汇：“红绿灯”里的“黄灯”究竟是yellow light 还是 amber light？不要说错啦！

　　俗话说：交通千万条，安全第 一条。而最基本的交通规则就是遵守红绿灯，但即使这一点，也有人难以做到，任意的闯红灯，其实这不仅是将自己的安全置于不顾，更会危害到其他人的安全，大家可要记得遵守交通规则哦~

　　在英语里，红绿灯一般都翻译为traffic lights或者traffic signals，但和中文语境比较类似，红绿灯都不仅仅是指简单的交通信号灯，快来一起了解一下吧~

　　red light可不是只有“红灯”的含义哦~

　　1.红灯(交通信号灯)

　　He gunned the cab through the red light.

　　他猛踩油门，开着出租汽车闯过了红灯。

　　2.停止的信号英语里解释为By extension, a message or signal to stop.

　　Only if the red light comes on is there any danger to employees.

　　只有红灯闪亮时才有危及职工的险情。

　　3.红灯区表示一些特殊的服务场所。

　　run a red light 抢红灯;闯红灯大家要记准确哦，闯红灯重点在于闯的行为，即走或者跑过去，所以英文里用run而不是break来表示这一行为。

　　和red light 类似，green light也有几种含义~

　　1.绿灯(交通信号灯)

　　She must wait for the green light.

　　她必须等到绿灯。

　　2. 准许，准行和中文语境比较相似，英文里解释为：Permission to proceed with some action or task.

　　give the green light to sth准许某事进行get the green light得到准许

　　The council has given the green light to the new shopping centre.

　　议会已经为新的购物中心开了绿灯。

　　The government has decided to give the green light to the plan.

　　政府已决定为这项计划开绿灯。

　　amber light/yellow light

　　黄灯。其实，amber或者yellow都是正确用法，只是英美式英语的差异。一般美国人习惯用yellow light，但是英国人更喜欢说amber light。

　　You should stop at an amber light.

　　遇到黄灯你应该停下来。

　　It's the yellow light, please wait!
